I have done quite a few radio interviews in the three years I have been with KBVR, but I still am challenged and stretched every time and learn something new that makes the next one better. The interview with Kingman and Johan was the first time I had interviewed two people over the phone at the same time, not to mention two people that were in different places. This made conducting the interview a challenge as well as having a noticeable effect on the sound quality. I have had a large number of people in the booth at a time, but when they are there in person it is easy to get their attention to go to a break or change topic. Other interviews I have felt much more in control, but in this situation it was easy for the two people I was interviewing to get swept up in talking to each other. If I ever have a similar interview in the future I will do a more extensive pre-interview. This piece was pre-recorded to enable me to put different music underneath for radio and internet. A pre-recorded interview allows me to edit and highlight the more in-depth responses; but this interview did not have very many follow up questions. Because Claudius Linton was calling all the way from Jamaica on a conference call from Virginia the audio quality of his statements was the lowest between the three of us. Unfortunately this made it hard to understand him and hard to put music underneath him. His voice was highly modulated and was clipping from overfeeding on his side of the line. The audio quality was less than I would desire, but there was little I could do if I wanted to be able to talk to this man in Nigril Jamaica.
On this project I hosted the interview with "Kingman and Jonah". I edited both shows for the internet and for the air. The "Kingman and Jonah" interview was pre-record with vocals only so that music could be dropped in afterwards; songs by "Kingman and Jonah" for the radio and promotionally licensed songs for the internet. In the creation of the blog I assisted with formatting and web hosting. I think that I did a fair share of the work on this project. Both me and Peggy applied our strengths and expertise to this project; as we have done with previous projects at KBVR.
